Kiwi Mania with Rum!!!

We are quite a metropolitan world right now, where country and colour lines are bridged every day for good! Food-wise India has always been very experimental. And we have embraced a new vegetable or fruit pretty whole heartedly! A bit of this has to be attributed to the fact that India has such a fertile soil and varied seasons all around the country that makes it easier for it to grow any vilayti stuff. While some of it has to be attributed to the fact that Indians just love to travel around the world, trying to maintain a bit of each country in our lives. We are a nation of foodies that leads a warm and beautiful welcome to everything from any land under the sun.

The Summer of '14!!!

Mumbai- the financial capital of India is buzzing with activities. And this summer was really an eventful journey for us foodies here! Big brands opening doors here for the first time, lots of high profile charity events, openings of restaurants with unique regional cuisines and launching of uniquely desi products! Zouqh has seen it all and today, armed with a glass of chilled buttermilk, let me pen down a few of the cute events I was a part of in the last few months.

Food-Blogging was taken up as a hobby by many, a few years back. We all took to it, loved it, wrote down what we made and/or liked. We read each others accounts, but that’s that; and we moved on to other things! Cut to now, and we have an association which creates foodie events to get all of us like-minded people together. Food Bloggers Association India has done an awesome work of organising our food-blogging community and has got us involved with other like-minded people. And then there was no stopping, through the FBAI, we were called to various events all over the city.

Hansher Dim Kosha- Duck Eggs Fry

I always cook with a story behind it! And my past reflects majorly in all that comes out of my kitchen. Why won’t it, we bongs have a major past entwined with food. And one of the most loved dishes was Hansher Dimer Kosha- Duck Egg Fry. Don’t be misguided by the word fry; kosha/fry means a curry which is made with minimal amounts of water. Its dry and lip-smackingly spicy, to be had with hot peas pulao or plain white rice.
Upper caste Brahmin Bongs never really cherished poultry ever.
